JoAnne Lobotsky studied printmaking at the University of Colorado at Boulder, sculpture and printmaking at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and painting at the Art Students League of New York. Her subject is the planet earth and the alterations humans have made to everything on it from its surface to the deepest layers of nature. She manipulates and distorts images ranging from satellite photos of earth to micro imagery on the computer and continues to explore them with paint. The resulting warped locations are designated as "Terradaptions." These dreamlike terradaptions are metaphors which intersect with socio-political and ecological issues. She currently lives in the Bronx in New York City.
